Wah, just keep getting more and more lazy to update my blog... anyway, today for the 1st time, i went to a Music Award Ceremony, the 6th Global Chinese Music Awards that is held today at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
We were quite early arriving at the Singapore Indoor Stadium at around 6.45, but we didn't proceed to the red carpet to catch glimpses of the artistes coming in as Joey thought it was too crowded. We went straight inside the stadium but was not allowed in as it was too early. We managed to enter at around 7.15pm while the event will be starting on 7.30pm. But it didn't start only until 8.15pm as i believe some of the big stars did not managed to arrive yet. It was a co-host event over 7 nations and live-telecast over some nations yet not Singapore the host country.
I can't remember just how the sequence of awards goes by, we can't exactly see the face of the singers as they are abit far away, but we certainly enjoyed the live music that they brought us. The opening was by Chai Chun Jia, followed by Gong Si Jia, Pan Jia Li, Hong Jun Jie, duet from Hong Jun Jie & Gong Shi Jia & Pan Jia Li respective, and Chen Wei Lian. Alot of awards are given out actually because mostly certain awards go to each singer from each countries, namely Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore.
Kuan Liang actually was undecided when his name was called for one award as he thought like any other Music Award Ceremony, the nomination will be called out first before the winner will be announced, but he just didn't realise that as i said before, certain awards are given to each singer from each country. And when he did go up the stage, he actually went to the wrong side and was guided to the correct side by the host. He also was not feeling too well, judging by how he sing and that the host did say he was sick.
We were also shocked that Guo Mei Mei actually was awarded the Best Newcomer Award which was totally unexpected given that she was not particularly popular, she doesn't really sing well and that she has so few songs to her name. And we came to the conclusion, Singapore is just not producing any more singers that is known internationally, especially male singer as Singapore was not awarded any for the male counterpart.
For the Best Asian Male Singer Award, Eason actually won it! The whole atmosphere was still, and everyone was clearly shocked as we have all actually expected Andy Lau to win it. There was little cheers and applause for him when he receive the award and during his singing. Actually he does really earn the award, let us give him a round of applause!!!
And for the Best Asian Female Singer Award, Joey Rong actually beat so many female artistes like Stephanie Sun, and Joslin Tsai to win it. She does sing well, but Joey said that her new album wasn't actually that particular wonderful.
Stephanie Sun won the last award, Most Voted Asian Female Singer Award, which was voted by all chinese across Asia. We certainly feel that she has no need to 'upgrade' her singing and that she should return to 'basic' as her new songs after her rest of 1 year is certainly nothing compared to her previous songs when she first started out. She is just losing her style the more she tries to change.
Andy Lau also won the Most Voted Asian Male Singer Award, as expected. He received the most cheers and applause, as if all the audience there was just there to see him, no doubt his status will never fall in the near future. Too bad he only sings two songs, we had actually wanted more from him. If theres any concert from him, i will certainly go, hopefully he will open one in Singapore though, our forever idol.
It started late, so it ended late, hopefully Singapore can quit being so symbolic of being late, and that PLEASE, starting telecasting LIVE all these events! Singapore IS THE HOST MIND YOU!!!
